I found a press release from PepsiCo, who own Mountain Dew. This press release from PepsiCo talks about their new campaign “Give Meals, Give Hope”. This campaign is raising money to buy food for kids that relied on school provided meals, because schools are now closed. PepsiCo is partnering with big name athletes like Saquon Barkley and Aaron Judge to promote this campaign. I think PepsiCo sent out this message to show people that they are doing something good in the world and to let people know about their campaign.
The inclusion of famous athletes in promoting PepsiCo’s campaign in a good way to draw attention towards it and gain positive PR. Being a major company, PepsiCo is bringing more attention to this important issue of hungry children who rely on school meals, which is a good contribution toward their CSR. By showing their support to fix this issue, PepsiCo is able to help legislators and other personnel take the steps towards fixing this problem.

Even during a time of crisis corporations can focus on CSR and maximize their brand image.

Partnering with athletes is a great idea because sports are also “closed” now so athletes aren’t playing right now so they have a lot of time on their hands, and social media posts are how they are being used in marketing right now.

And athletes make the most of their brand while being sidelined. Smart move for two NY teams athletes that can give their NYC fans hope.

A brand pushing or supporting their celebrity endorsers during a time of crisis is commendable because those with so little can resent those with so much. And what’s better than supporting a free hot lunch for kids.
