One advertisement that I saw during the Oscars was for the 2021 Cadillac Escalade. The ad showed actress Regina King driving the Escalade. She parks it on the red carpet and is wearing a fancy dress when she gets out of the car. She is then shown walking down the carpet getting her picture taken. This ad is relevant to the Oscars because the use of the red carpet and because Regina King won Best Supporting Actress last year. This makes consumers think that all the big movie stars drive Escalades. The Oscars are a good market for Cadillac because people who actually care about the Oscars are probably more likely to want or be able to afford a fancy car like a Cadillac.
A lot of advertisements during these kinds of TV events use a bandwagon tactic to market their product. This Cadillac commercial is a perfect example of that. They have have some well known famous person talk about how much they love their specific product and hope that consumers follow the bandwagon and buy the product. Since this is a pretty popular tactic, it must be shown to work to some extent.

Smart on the marketers part, as they integrated a past winner who was required to be there to present this years award.
